Preparing to interpret during the High Holy Days can feel daunting, especially when working with unfamiliar Hebrew terms, liturgical language, and deeply meaningful prayers. This interactive workshop is designed to help interpreters develop the knowledge and confidence needed to effectively interpret key Rosh Hashanah texts.
Participants will work through two central Rosh Hashanah prayers, with the possibility of exploring additional texts if time permits. Together, we will examine the themes, messages, and spiritual significance of each prayer and discuss interpretation strategies.
Educational Objectives:
-Understand the theme and overall message of each prayer reviewed. -Explore key Hebrew terms, concepts, and liturgical language found within the texts. -Develop effective interpretation strategies for conveying meaning, tone, and intent. -Increase comfort and confidence interpreting Rosh Hashanah prayers in Jewish settings.
