Description:  

The workshop will explain important tax information for the interpreters such as; tax deductions to claim, to set up LLC or not, different kinds of retirement plans, employee vs contractor status, mistakes to avoid, and determine tax withholding on incomes.

Presenter: Charles R Sterling 

Bio:  Charles has MBA in Finance and BS in Business Management from Rochester Institute of Technology. He has been working as tax preparer, accountant, investment advisor, bookkeeper, business consultant, and financial planner since 2008. He has done over 8k tax returns since 2008 for various types of clients: married, interpreters, business owners, retirees, landlords, single, and many other types. He has given many presentations on different topics to various audiences, in person and virtual.

At the end of the workshop, the attendants will be able to:

1. Understand the essential foundation of tax system for interpreters.
2. Identify and determine which tax deductions the interpreters can use on the tax return
3. Collect correct information to put on the tax return and to track for expenses
4. Avoid claiming not qualified expenses and be audited for improper claiming
5. Adopt best practices to perform bookkeeping to track and organize incomes and expenses
6. To calculate estimated taxes to pay to federal and state based on net profit
7. To pick which retirement plan is suitable based on employment status and income
8. Decide to set up LLC or not
9, Avoid excess tax dues at time of preparing a tax return.
